Christian Kirsch anchors Rangers in 2026 Memorial Cup final

Kirsch faced 70 shots in the round-robin and allowed only four goals while recording a shutout. The Swiss netminder, a San Jose Sharks prospect, stopped 42 of 46 shots in one contest despite the Rangers being outshot 42-28 yet winning 6-2. His .957 save percentage ranks first among all goalies at the event.

Kitchener finished the round-robin 3-0 after that victory over the Silvertips. Kirsch’s play has extended a nine-game OHL playoff winning streak that began in Game 4 of the conference final against the Windsor Spitfires. The Rangers have lost only twice in those playoffs.

Head coach Jussi Ahokas emphasized maintaining routines during the four-day break since May 26. The team treated the pause identically to earlier extended rests between playoff games, avoiding any adjustments to preparation methods.

Kirsch aims to become the first goaltender since Dustin Tokarski in 2008 to win the Stafford Smythe Trophy as tournament MVP. His three-game sample includes one shutout and elite efficiency that has kept Kitchener in every contest.
