McKenna Tops Aerobic Testing

Gavin McKenna, the top-ranked North American skater, recorded the best VO2 Max result of 65.0 ml/kg/min and finished in the top eight across four events including the isokinetic squat at 3.40 lb/lb BW. McKenna also posted 14 pull-ups and a force plate no-arm jump of 19.5 inches, results that placed him ahead of most peers despite his draft-eligible status. These numbers contrast with the typical pattern where elite prospects rarely dominate physical testing.

Keaton Verhoeff joined McKenna in the top ten of the VO2 Max standings at 57.8 ml/kg/min while also tying for fourth in pro agility right at 4.3 seconds. Caleb Malhotra matched Verhoeff’s agility time and tied for fifth in the force plate vertical jump at 22.8 inches. The three prospects together accounted for six top-ten finishes in aerobic and agility categories.

Morozov Leads in Six Events

Morozov, a freshman at Miami University, finished in the top ten of six separate tests. He won the left-hand grip test at 184 lb, placed second in pull-ups with 17 repetitions, and ranked third in right-hand grip at 181 lb. His force plate no-arm jump of 19.9 inches and vertical jump of 22.1 inches further highlighted his athletic profile.

The 182.5 overall score places Morozov fifth on the all-time combine list. His 17 pull-ups tie for fifth-best historically. These figures surpass the marks posted by several higher-ranked draft prospects and establish Morozov as the clearest athletic outlier of the weekend.

Additional Historic Performances

Viggo Bjorck recorded 16 pull-ups, tying for the fourth-most in NHL combine history despite measuring 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds. He also placed in the top ten of anaerobic and aerobic fitness tests plus bench press. Niklas Aaram-Olsen swept the top spots in horizontal jump at 118.0 inches and pro agility right at 4.2 seconds while finishing third in the 10m sprint at 2.04 seconds.

Layne Gallacher led anaerobic fitness at 17.3 watts/kg and tied for fourth in the 10m sprint at 2.04 seconds. Cole Zurawski won the 10m sprint outright at 1.97 seconds and placed in the top ten of pro agility, horizontal jump, and VO2 Max. These results round out a combine where multiple non-consensus top prospects produced measurable separation in physical testing.
